Before you buy

Devices, coverage and choosing a plan.

What is a travel eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM profile you install on a compatible phone. A travel data plan gives you mobile internet in its listed destinations without inserting a new physical SIM.

The plans sold here are data-only. They do not include a local phone number, standard calls or SMS.

Will my phone work with an eSIM?

Your exact phone model and purchase-region variant must support eSIM, and the device must be unlocked by its carrier. A model name alone is not enough to confirm compatibility.

Check for an Add eSIM option in your phone settings and confirm the model with its manufacturer. Ask your carrier if you are unsure whether the phone is unlocked.

How do I check whether my phone is carrier-unlocked?

On iPhone, open Settings → General → About and look for Carrier Lock. “No SIM restrictions” means it is unlocked.

On Android, carrier-lock checks vary. Contact the carrier that supplied the phone. We cannot unlock your phone, and buying a travel eSIM will not remove a carrier lock.

How much data and how many days should I choose?

Choose a validity period that covers your trip from the plan’s activation time. Maps and messages generally use less data than video streaming, video calls and sharing data with a laptop. Check your phone’s recent mobile-data usage as a starting point.

Compare both GB and validity: a 3 GB plan lasting 7 days is different from a 3 GB plan lasting 30 days. A higher allowance does not automatically mean a longer validity period.

Which countries and networks does a plan cover?

Open a plan’s included countries and territories. This is the coverage list to use when planning a multi-country trip; a regional product name alone is not enough.

A country page may show regional plans that include that country. Network names are shown when available. A listed network does not guarantee signal, 5G or a particular speed at every location.

Can I make phone calls or receive SMS and verification codes?

These plans provide mobile data only. Internet-based calling and messaging apps can use that data, but standard calls, SMS and verification texts need a separate phone service.

You may be able to receive texts on your home SIM if your home carrier supports it abroad. Check its roaming terms and charges first. A travel data eSIM does not supply a local phone number.

Can I keep my phone number and WhatsApp?

Installing a travel eSIM does not itself change the number registered with WhatsApp or other messaging accounts. Keep your existing registration when using those apps over the travel data connection.

Your home SIM can stay installed, but calls and SMS on that line remain subject to your home carrier’s charges. Keep its data roaming off if you do not want to use it for roaming data.

Can I share data using a hotspot or tethering?

Hotspot support depends on the plan, network and phone. Where support is confirmed, it is shown in the plan details. If no hotspot information is shown, support is unconfirmed—ask us before buying if tethering is essential.

Any data shared with a laptop or another device counts against the plan’s allowance.

Installation

Download your eSIM and avoid common setup problems.

How do I install an eSIM on iPhone?

Connect to Wi-Fi and open the installation details in your order. Check the plan’s activation rule before installing. Menu names vary by iOS version and region.

  1. Open Settings → Cellular or Mobile Service → Add eSIM.
  2. Use the iPhone installation link in your issued order, or enter its SM-DP+ address and activation code manually. If a QR code is supplied, you can scan it from another screen.
  3. Follow the prompts and give the new line a name such as Travel.
  4. At your destination, select the travel line for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line. Keep home-line data roaming off.
How do I install an eSIM on Android?

Connect to Wi-Fi and open your order’s installation details. Check activation timing first. Settings vary by manufacturer, model and Android version.

  1. On Samsung Galaxy, look under Settings → Connections → SIM manager → Add eSIM. On Google Pixel, look under Settings → Network & internet → SIMs → Add SIM → Set up an eSIM.
  2. Use the installation details in your issued order. Scan a QR code if one is supplied, or copy the Full activation code (Android) from your order if your phone asks for one activation string. If it asks for separate fields, use the matching address and activation code.
  3. Label the line Travel. At your destination, select it for mobile data and enable data roaming on that line. Keep data roaming off on your home line.
Can I install before I travel? When does validity start?

Read the Starts or activation information on the selected plan. Some plans start on installation, while others start on first connection to a supported network. Do not assume buying, installing and activating all happen at the same time. If your current location is included in the plan, turning the line on before departure may start its validity.

You can prepare ahead only within that plan’s rules. Installation requires an internet connection; if validity starts immediately, installing too early can use up days before your trip.

How do I install when the QR code is on the same phone?

Open the code on a second trusted screen if available. Otherwise, use your order’s manual installation details when supplied and choose the manual entry option in your phone’s eSIM setup.

Some phones can recognize a QR code from a saved image or link, but this depends on the device and software version. Never upload your activation code to a public QR-code reader or share it with other people.

My installation email or QR code has not arrived. What should I do?

Sign in to My eSIMs with the email used at checkout and check the order’s status. Installation details become available after the eSIM has been issued. Check spam and junk folders for an order email.

If your order is still preparing or needs support review, send a request with the order reference. Do not buy again just because an email is missing.

My code says it is invalid, already used or no longer valid.

First check whether the eSIM is already present in your phone’s SIM settings. Installation codes may be single-use, so scanning again can fail after a successful download.

Keep any installed profile. If it is not installed or you cannot connect, contact support with your order reference, phone model and exact error message. Do not send the activation code in the support form.

Should I delete and reinstall my eSIM?

No—contact support before deleting it. Some eSIM profiles cannot be downloaded again, even if you still have the original QR code.

Turning a line off temporarily is different from deleting its profile, and it does not necessarily pause the plan’s validity.

Can I move the eSIM to another phone or buy for someone else?

Do not assume a travel eSIM supports transfer after installation. Transfer and reinstallation depend on the specific profile and device. Ask support before deleting it or moving phones.

If buying for someone else, confirm their exact phone is compatible and unlocked before checkout. Each eSIM should be installed only on the intended device. Keep access to your order account and do not share your account sign-in link.

Connection & troubleshooting

No signal, roaming settings and slow data.

I have landed but have no signal or internet. What should I check?

Keep the eSIM installed while troubleshooting. Work through these checks on Wi-Fi if possible.

  1. Confirm your location is included in the plan and that the plan has data remaining and has not expired.
  2. Turn on the travel eSIM line and select it for mobile data. Enable data roaming on that line, while keeping home-line roaming off.
  3. Follow any APN or network instructions in your order. Do not guess APN values.
  4. Toggle airplane mode off and on, or restart the phone, and allow time for the network to reconnect.
  5. If it still fails, send support your order reference, phone model, destination and exact error.
Why does my phone say “activating” before I arrive?

Some profiles cannot finish registering until they reach a supported network. Check whether your current location is covered and whether the eSIM has downloaded to the phone.

An activating message alone does not tell you when plan validity starts. Follow the activation policy in your order. If setup remains stuck in a covered destination, use the connection checks or contact support.

Should data roaming be on or off?

For the travel eSIM, enable data roaming when the plan’s instructions require it—our setup guidance uses roaming on the travel line. Set the travel eSIM as the mobile-data line.

Keep data roaming off on your home SIM to avoid using home-carrier roaming data. Also check automatic data switching settings so the phone does not fall back to the home line. Calls and SMS can still incur separate home-carrier charges.

What is an APN, and do I need to change it?

An APN is a network setting used for the data connection. Many eSIMs configure it automatically. If your order includes specific APN instructions, enter them exactly for the travel line.

If no APN is supplied and you have no internet after the basic checks, ask support. Do not use settings from an unrelated plan or change your home SIM’s APN.

Why is my mobile data slow? Will I get 5G?

Speed depends on local coverage, congestion, signal strength, your phone and the plan. A network listing does not guarantee 5G or a minimum speed everywhere.

Check your remaining allowance and any plan restrictions, try a location with better signal and restart the connection. Background downloads or shared hotspot use may also consume data. If the issue continues, contact support with your location and when it happens.

Will it work when I cross a border?

Only if the new country or territory is explicitly included in the plan. A regional name does not guarantee every neighboring country is covered.

A supported eSIM should register with an available network after you cross. Allow time to reconnect and follow any network-selection instructions in your order. If the next destination is not included, choose a separate plan for it.

Data, validity & top-ups

Balances, expiry and adding more data.

Where can I see my data balance and expiry?

Sign in to My eSIMs, find an issued eSIM and choose Refresh balance. Supported orders show remaining data, expiry and the time the usage information was checked.

If balance information is unavailable, that means it has not been supplied—not that you have zero data.

Why is my balance different from my phone’s data counter?

Network usage reporting can lag by 2–3 hours. Refreshing the account does not force the network to produce a newer reading.

Your phone’s counter may cover a different date range, line or unit of measurement. Use it as an estimate and check the usage update time shown with the account balance.

How do I add more data?

Sign in, open the relevant issued eSIM and select Add data when available. Choose one of the compatible top-ups shown for that eSIM and review its allowance, validity and price before paying.

A successful top-up is added to the existing eSIM; do not install a new profile for it. The plan determines when the extra data starts and how expiry changes.

Why is there no top-up option for my eSIM?

Not every eSIM supports top-ups. Options depend on the profile, its current status and available compatible packages. Expired, deleted or otherwise ineligible profiles may not be rechargeable.

If no compatible option is offered, do not buy an unrelated package expecting it to attach to the same eSIM. Contact support or choose a new plan and follow that order’s installation details.

What happens when my data runs out or the plan expires?

The plan’s data service ends when its allowance or validity is exhausted, according to its terms. Any unused data should not be assumed to roll over or extend the expiry.

Check My eSIMs for an eligible top-up. If none is available, choose a new plan. Keeping Wi-Fi available helps you manage the order if mobile data is exhausted.

Can I pause a plan or save unused days?

Do not assume turning off mobile data, switching to Wi-Fi or disabling the eSIM pauses its validity. Once the validity clock starts, it generally continues according to the plan’s terms.

Use the activation and expiry details for your specific order. We do not offer a general pause or unused-days credit feature.

Orders, payments & refunds

Checkout, payment problems and purchase terms.

Which payment methods and currencies can I use?

The payment methods available to you are shown at checkout.

Listed prices are in USD. Your bank may apply currency-conversion or international-payment fees. Review the final checkout total before confirming.

I paid but cannot find my order, or checkout failed.

Check My eSIMs using the exact checkout email. If a bank charge or pending authorization appears, avoid immediately paying again. A pending authorization is not proof that an eSIM has been issued.

Contact support with the email, any order reference, approximate time and amount. Never send a card number, security code or password.

Can I cancel or get a refund?

Yes. Our 100% refund guarantee covers unused, unactivated plans that have not expired. Contact us with your order reference.

Read the refund terms for details.

Where can I find a receipt or invoice?

Your order page records the selected plan and amount. If you need a payment receipt or invoice, contact support with the order reference and checkout email.

Do not send full card details when requesting payment records.

Can I change the destination, email or plan after ordering?

Contact us as soon as you notice the mistake. Include the order reference and describe what needs correcting. Changes depend on whether payment and eSIM issuance have already happened; they are not guaranteed.

Do not install or use an unwanted eSIM while asking for a change. Email changes require verification so orders cannot be transferred to someone else without authorization.

Is there a subscription, wallet, referral credit or reward balance?

Plans are one-time purchases with no automatic subscription renewal. Customer wallets, cashback, gift balance and referral rewards are not currently offered.

Buying a top-up is a separate purchase for an eligible eSIM. Your account’s remaining data is not a cash balance.

Account & privacy

Sign-in links, your orders and account information.

How do I sign in? Do I need a password?

Go to My eSIMs and enter the email used at checkout. Open the private sign-in link, then confirm sign-in. A link works once and expires after 15 minutes.

There is no password to create. A session can last up to seven days; sign out when using a shared device. Keep sign-in and private order links confidential.

My sign-in email has not arrived, or the link has expired.

Check the address for typos and look in spam or junk. If the link is expired or has already been used, request another link and use the newest email.

If you still can’t sign in, contact support without sharing the sign-in link.

Why are my orders missing after I sign in?

Orders are linked to the email entered at checkout. Sign out and use that exact email if you signed in with another address.

If the address is correct but an order is missing, send support its reference and purchase time. Never share your private order link or activation code publicly.

Do I need to download an app?

No separate OffWeGoSIM mobile app is required. Browse plans and manage orders through this website on your phone or computer.

You install the eSIM through your phone’s settings using the details supplied with your order.

What information is stored, and how do I request deletion?

The service stores information needed for orders, account sessions and support, including your checkout email and selected plan. Supported eSIMs may have cached usage information.

Read the privacy page for how we handle your information. To request account or data deletion, contact support; identity checks and retention requirements may apply. There is no self-service delete-account button at present.
