Before you choose
For a Japan-only trip, compare a Japan data plan with the allowance and validity you need. OffWeGoSIM plans do not provide a Japanese number or carrier SMS. Check the selected plan’s hotspot and activation details before buying; a regional plan only helps if every extra stop is included.

Next stop: Japan

Next stop: Japan. Pack your mobile data. Japan travel data eSIM. Data only. Check device compatibility and included countries before buying.
The film shows a traveler checking a phone, followed by a plane-window view. It does not demonstrate installation or network performance.
Start with what you do on your phone
Maps, messages and occasional searches use data differently from video, cloud backups and laptop work. There is no single allowance that fits every trip. Check your phone’s mobile-data history for a comparable period before choosing a plan.
Download maps and entertainment over Wi-Fi before you leave. Pause mobile photo backups and app updates if you want to keep that usage out of your travel allowance.
Data budgets and hotspot examples →
- Light use: compare smaller allowances if you mainly need directions and messages, with Wi-Fi for heavier tasks.
- Photos and social video: choose room for uploads and playback, especially if you will use mobile data every day.
- Laptop work: check your recent usage and hotspot support. Video meetings and large downloads can use an allowance quickly.
Data, not a Japanese phone number
OffWeGoSIM travel plans provide mobile data. They do not include a local phone number, ordinary carrier calls or SMS. Internet messaging and calling apps can use your data connection.
If a booking or service needs a Japanese number or an SMS verification code, a data-only eSIM does not provide one. Keeping your home SIM enabled may let you receive messages on that number, but your home carrier’s availability and charges still apply.
Read the network and hotspot details
Open the exact plan you are considering and check its listed networks, validity and hotspot status. Coverage depends on the supported network, your location, phone and local conditions; a country listing does not promise signal everywhere.
When hotspot is listed as supported, connected devices share the plan’s allowance. It is not a separate pool of data. Check the selected plan rather than assuming every future offer has the same terms.
Check two different dates
The installation or activation deadline tells you how long you have to start using the purchased eSIM. The plan validity tells you how long its service lasts once its start rule is triggered. These are different limits.
Some plans start on first connection to a supported network; others can start on installation. Read the rule for the selected plan before installing or enabling the line. Use a reliable internet connection to download the eSIM profile.
Japan only, or another stop too?
For a Japan-only trip, compare Japan plans first. If your trip also includes another country, compare a regional bundle with buying a separate plan for each stop.
A label such as Asia is not a coverage list. Expand the included countries for the exact regional bundle and check every stop. Also compare allowance and validity; a regional allowance is shared across the included destinations.
Know where your eSIM will appear
After payment, your order shows its preparation status. Installation details appear when the eSIM is ready. Sign in to My eSIMs with the email used at checkout and its emailed code; you do not need to create a password.
Before relying on a top-up, check whether your particular eSIM offers one in My eSIMs. Top-ups depend on the plan. Buying again may issue a new eSIM that needs installation. Keep the existing profile installed while support investigates any connection issue.
